What is a great strategy to improve someone else's mood?
Depends on the person. Sometimes distract them from focusing so much on their problem by getting them involved in conversation about something else (interesting, funny, etc). Sometimes, they really just need to talk about what's bothering them in order to feel better - so, listen and give advice where appropriate (usually they figure out how to fix their own problems by talking it out). In my experience, rarely does just making them laugh help (they only end up laughing out of obligation but still feel bad inthe end).
